Gearing up, new tyres.

Out with the old and in with the new...
The continental gp4000s is meant to be good for 5000 miles plus! Fingers crossed.
Quite expensive but as wiggle had 27% off they weren't so bad if you say it quick!

They seem to be really good, very fast rolling and light.  Not quite as bling as the R1's.

Gearing up... tyres!

I changed the original continental ultra sports for a set of schwalbe R1's... they were great but didn't last long at all... the front went out of shape before it wore out! The rear just chewed up, no good for a long ride. :(

Gearing up! Saddle

First thing to change on my trusty Boardman team carbon was the saddle... although the original was ok the Charge Spoon i have now is much better.

I rode the Exmoor Beast on the original and it was OK till about 70 miles... but after a bit of a shift around it came good again till the end.   The Spoon i used on the Dartmoor Classic 100,  no issues at all.

And at around £20 they are a bargin.

2012 last training ride... not quite to plan!

Well 2012 didn't quite finish as i had hoped! On one of the last planned training rides this happened! Its not meant to do that!

My SRAM RIVAL rear gear lever snapped off!!!!

After doing a bit of searching i found I'm not alone as quite a few others have had the same thing happen. Grrr, not a happy bunny as a new lever set will cost about the same as the gopro action camera i wanted to get for the trip.  Arh well no point in having a nice camera on a cycle ride if you bike isn't working!
