Feels really nice shifting and braking, its probable got quite a bit to do with having new cables as well.

Its this year!!!

Well the countdown has begun... New year 2013 starts the countdown to our epic 1000 mile cycle ride from Roscoff to Santander. The adventure starts on June the 14th from Plymouth where we depart at 11pm on the ferry and arrive in France at 8am. 12 days of riding to get too Santander in Spain. The days are pretty mixed with the daily distance being around 85 miles. The notable exceptions being day 3 at 103 miles and only 1,190 ft of climb :) and day 11! 98 miles 7385 ft of climb!!!! thats almost the same as the Dartmoor Classic i rode in the summer (24th June 2012) that after day 9, the first day in the Pyrenees 58 miles and 6736 ft and day 10, 67 miles and 5512 ft its truly going to be a challenge!!

My trusty steed!!!

My bike for the challenge is a 2010 Boardman Team Carbon.  I bought it as a 40th birthday present (to myself).

Its not 100% original as  I've added a few bits on the way!

Second 100 miler - Dartmoor Classic 2012

Dartmoor Classic was tougher than the Exmoor Beast!   106 miles (i know the garmin says 98miles but i switched it off at Prince Town and didn't realise till a few miles down the road... Doh!)

My first 100 mile ride... Exmoor Beast 2011

Gearing up... tyres!

I changed the original continental ultra sports for a set of schwalbe R1's... they were great but didn't last long at all... the front went out of shape before it wore out! The rear just chewed up, no good for a long ride. :(
